This is my 1930’s cigarette case depicting Blackpool Pleasure Beach. The town has a long history of end-of-the –pier drag and ancient gay bars.
I fell in love in Blackpool in a bad gay bar called The Pink Flamingo, ten years ago.
The relationship didn’t last although we remained friends. Whenever I use my cigarette case, I think of my friend, Soft Cell, riding The Big One, and old fashioned queens who are a little bit blue!
