In my early twenties, I found myself unemployed and recovering from traumatic facial surgery; the scarring from which led me to spend much of my time alone. Writing my first fanzine, ‘Two Slugs Kissing’, gave me motivation, and helped me find my voice as a writer. In retrospect, the topics centered heavily upon alternative role models, drawing form fringe lifestyles and fantasy, due to an absence of more visible, and importantly likeable, figures. My scars healed, I became a journalist, a film producer, a curator, a director. These zines represent the start of a domino trail that continues.
