A few years ago, I told my father I’m a gay man. My dad asked me if I want to have a transsexual operation, he could get a loan for me to go to Thailand. I was really moved for his kindness, but I have feelings for men and do not wish to become a woman.
My mum was not able to understand that so my dad had to support me in many awkward situations. She cried a lot, but she never tried to make it hard for me.
As the eldest son, I received a lot of pressure on getting married, even when my dad is really supportive. Many people wonder why I’m not married at the age of 37. My mum believes that I need to go through a ritual ceremony. My dad and I know it’s useless and a waste of money but we still did it to avoid conflict. My dad said, “ When we have diseases, we have to pray everywhere”. So I went through a ritual ceremony to cut my connection with the past life. I hope that my family won’t push me into marrying a woman.
